Biography
Robert Ziobro is a Wisconsin native and began his studies for saxophone in grade 6 at Kettle Moraine Middle School, WI. His pedagogy is focused on interactive experiences that give students a strong foundation in technique, rhythm, musicality, and aural skills to foster confidence in their playing
He currently teaches at Hartland Music and has been there since the start of 2023.
He is an active member of "Part Time Models" which is a rock/pop/blues/funk cover band. Their website: https://part-time-models.com. Check out their performance schedule if you would like to see Robert perform!
He graduated from Lawrence University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Psychology. He was part of Jazz Combo, Saxaphone Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Band/Ensemble
He is trained in both classical and jazz saxophone playing and can teach a wide range of styles
He is trained in extended techniques of the saxophone and can teach circular breathing, slap tongue (open and closed), double tongue, growling, flutter tongue, singing and playing, sub-tone, split tone, doodle tonguing, "pops" and "double pops," multi-phonics, altissimo, etc
He has worked at Waukesha South High School (during the school year) as an Assistant Band Director working with small groups of woodwind instruments (2022)
He studied with Steven Jordheim, Sumner Truax, Jose Encarnacion while at Lawrence University and with David Erato while in high school
He worked with Logan Willis, a Lawrence graduate composer, and commissioned and premiered "Coping Methods" which he performed as part of his senior recital
He was part of Spectre Quartet, a saxophone quartet, at Lawrence University where they toured around Minnesota and performed at schools in the area
He has given a masterclass and tutored saxophonists at Kettle Moraine High School, Waukesha North High School, Brookfield Central High School, Mukwonago High School, Waukesha South High School
He has performed at State Fair and Summerfest multiple times (2022, 2023) as a part of Part Time Models
